Does the WPF Dynamic data display support Expression Blend 2 or 3?

Aug 18, 2009 at 6:26 PM

We just notice that we have a problem to open the User Control which uses the Dynamic Data Display in Expression Blend 2.

It complaints that "Header" method or operation is not implemented.

<d3:Header
        TextBlock.FontSize="20"
        Content="{Binding Path=GraphTitle}" />

Anyone has any clue?

Does the Dynamic Data Display supports Expression Blend 3?

thx!

Hi Jane,

I tried to open several projects from D3's samples and got the same message. I don't understand its meaning. Actually I don't know what's the reason for it, there is no Blend or VisualStudio specific code in DynamicDataDisplay.

Maybe the problem is in that I'm mostly working in VisualStudio and editing raw XAML, not editing XAML in visual designer.

Does existence of this message allow you to edit visuals in Blend? Maybe it is possible to temporarily comment some part of XAML markup to enable normal Blend functioning, and then, after editing, uncomment it.

If somebody can lid a light on this problem, you are welcome!

Mikhail.

Hi Mikhail,

In the past, we know there are cases, the code works for VS2008 design time. however, it does work for Expression blend 2 or 3 design time.

In some cases, the code works for Expression blend design time. however, it does not work for VS2008.

In most cases, microsoft can figure out what's the reason for that if we submit the example for them.

In our cases, we should raise the question to the Microsoft Expression blend team, they will tell us what's the reason.

regards,

Jane

Hi Mikhail,

We have posted questions in the following link:

http://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/blend/thread/d315bc43-b420-4a87-8f2c-89ea6bc14045

We get the answer today. It looks like that DynamicDataDisplay library misses implement some Iinterfaces..

We have tried our solution again in Expression Blend 3. This time, we open the Graph.xaml which uses DynamicDataDisplay library without any problem. So Expression Blend 3 is better than Blend 2.

Jane

Hi Jane,

I've uploaded a new fixed version of D3 to 'Source code' page; this version contains a full implementation of all necessary interface members for PlotterChildrenCollection, and it is working in Expression Blend 3 (I've tested some projects particulary on this version of Expression Blend).

Mikhail.
